FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Schedule: Temporary (November - January)
Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

Overview

As a Manufacturing Specialist, you will manufacture, package, and maintain inventory of reptile and amphibian supplies. This role involves manual labor, frequent lifting, repetitive movements, and standing for extended periods. Ideal candidates have strong attention to detail, can follow safety protocols, and are eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Product Manufacturing

  • Prepare, mix, and package substrates, diets, and soil inoculants following company standards.
  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately to maintain product consistency and quality.

Quality Control

  • Inspect products during manufacturing to ensure quality assurance standards are met.
  • Identify and report defects, inconsistencies, or production issues.

Inventory Management

  • Assist with inventory tracking and stock checks to ensure sufficient material availability.
  • Maintain accurate records of raw materials used in production.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate manufacturing equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment to prevent malfunctions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Wear appropriate PPE and follow proper safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Assist in streamlining workflows and suggest efficiency improvements.
  • Communicate with team members and leads to meet production goals.
  • Report workload challenges and collaborate on solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Manufacturing, warehouse, or physically demanding jobs preferred.
  • Physical: Lift and carry heavy objects, stand for long periods, perform repetitive motions.
  • Technical: Basic Microsoft Office; inventory software (e.g., SKULabs) preferred.
  • Detail & Organization: Follow instructions, maintain accurate production records, troubleshoot issues.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate effectively with coworkers and managers.
  • Safety: Knowledge of OSHA standards and warehouse safety best practices.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Warehouse setting with dust, noise, and temperature changes.
  • Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and standing for extended periods.
  • Use of protective gear (gloves, mask, etc.) required when handling materials.
  • Work with industrial mixers, packaging equipment, and heavy materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or shipping roles.
  • Forklift operation or chemical handling certification.
  • Background in inventory control and production tracking.
